Fayette County woman arrested on animal cruelty charges

CANNELTON, W.Va. (WVNS) - A Fayette County woman is in jail after deputies said she left three dogs in an unoccupied apartment in deplorable conditions.

Deputies arrested Shannon Lee Sears, 46, of Cannelton on Tuesday, Feb. 6 after deputies responded to an animal cruelty complaint. 

When deputies arrived they found Sears' three dogs in an adjacent unoccupied apartment. 

Deputies tell 59 News the apartment floors were covered in animal feces and the overall living conditions were very poor. 

Sears is charged with four counts of cruelty to animals. She was arraigned by the Fayette County Magistrate's Office and released on $8,000 bond.
